Samuel Mather photograph albums and papers, 1869-1951.

The collection includes a letter and bank book of Samuel Mather; bills, receipts, and guarantees (1869-1899), many from the Cold Spring Cheese Factory; a fire and tornado insurance policy; a farm questionnaire related to The Evergreens filled out by Anders Mather; Rachel's autograph book; clippings on Ellen K. Mather and Rachel's husband, Stephen Hayes Bush; two account books belonging to Samuel's nephew, Carl H. Mather which note Carl's expenses while attending the Friends Congress in Chicago in 1893, and college expenses for 1897-1898 at Penn College; and 6 albums of family photographs and pictures of Rachel and her friends at the State University of Iowa and Penn College. A certificate for membership in the American Flag House and Betsy Ross Association (1921) belonging to Ellen removed to the broadside collection. A piece of plaster from a house in Springdale, Iowa where John Brown's men wrote their names removed to artifact cabinet.
